Sample report

This is how a SiteNorma scan is summarised: the score, the issues by severity and what still needs a manual review. It is an illustrative example and uses the same website and the same scan as the demonstration on the home page.

Illustrative data

Zapatillas Norte is a demonstration (fictitious) website: no figure comes from a real customer. Date of the sample scan: . It is the same scan shown in See how it works, with dashboard captures. A real report also states the versions of the engine, the rule catalogue and the formula used for the scan.

Accessibility score

45 out of 100 · automated estimate

  • 45 points from the automated tests
  • 15 lost to the failures detected
  • 40 pending the manual review

Manual review pending (0/55). Without manual review, the maximum score is 60.

Issues by severity

Each issue confirmed by the automated tests has one of these four severities. Critical and serious issues weigh the most in the score.

  • Critical: 2
  • Serious: 1
  • Moderate: 0

Examples of issues

The three issues in this scan, with what they mean and how to fix them. The full report groups each failure with all the pages where it appears and says which profile usually fixes it.

  • Critical

    Image without alternative text

    Criterion 1.1.1 · Page: /

People who use a screen reader cannot tell what the image shows or what it is for. In the example it is the sale banner.

How to fix it. Add an alt attribute that describes the information or the function of the image. If it is decorative, use alt="".

  • Critical

Form field without text saying what to fill in

    Criterion 4.1.2 · Page: /envios/

People who use a screen reader or voice control cannot tell what information the field asks for.

How to fix it. Associate every field with a <label> that has visible text. Example text does not replace the label.

  • Serious

    Text with insufficient contrast

    Criterion 1.4.3 · Page: /zapatillas/ (3 elements)

The text does not stand out well from the background, especially with low vision, colour blindness or bright ambient light.

How to fix it. Darken the text or lighten the background until the contrast ratio is 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text).

What needs a person

The criteria that the automated tests do not decide (55 in this scan) cannot be taken as met just because there are no issues: they have to be reviewed by hand, one by one. For example:

  • 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded). Whether the captions of the videos are correct.
  • 1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence. Whether the reading order makes sense.
  • 2.4.6 Headings and Labels. Whether they describe the content well.
  • 3.3.3 Error Suggestion. Whether the error messages help people correct them.

How it enters the score

Until at least 80% of the criteria have been reviewed, the report shows “Manual review pending (0/55)” instead of a rating. Each reviewed criterion records who reviewed it, when and with what evidence.

How manual review works

How to read this report

The automated analysis identifies some of the accessibility barriers. The assessment must be completed with a manual review.

  • The score is an automated estimate. It is not a website’s legal conformance status.
  • Having no issues in the automated tests does not mean that the regulations are met.
  • We use WCAG, which are W3C guidelines, as the technical basis. That does not mean that the W3C endorses SiteNorma or its results.
