Does the European Accessibility Act apply to me?

Answer four questions and we will tell you, as a guide, which web accessibility regulations apply to you. Your answers do not leave your browser.

The questionnaire needs JavaScript

Without JavaScript we cannot work out the result, but you can apply the criteria we explain in “How we decide the result” yourself.

1. Is your organisation part of the public sector?

For example, a ministry, a regional government department, a city council, a public university or a public company.

2. Do you sell products or provide services to consumers through your website or app?

Consumers are individuals who buy for personal use, not businesses.

3. Which services do you offer? Tick all that apply.
4. Is your business a microenterprise?

It is if it has fewer than 10 people working for it and an annual turnover or annual balance sheet total of €2 million or less.

How we decide the result

  • Public sector: Royal Decree 1112/2018 applies to you.
  • A listed service for consumers, and you are not a microenterprise: Law 11/2023 probably applies to you.
  • A listed service for consumers, but you are a microenterprise: you are probably exempt, although we still recommend making your website accessible.
  • You only work with businesses or your service is not on the list: it does not seem to apply to you directly.

Energy and water supply services, travel agencies and social networks are included in the Spanish law, in addition to those in the European directive.

Indicative, not legal advice

The result depends on your answers and on a general reading of the law. There are nuances, such as the type of transport or excluded content, that are worth reviewing with your legal adviser.
