Accessibility Centre: information and contact on your website

A small panel you install on your website so that people can find your accessibility statement, tell you about a problem and adjust three preferences. It does not fix your website, and it does not claim to.

Not available yet

The Accessibility Centre is planned and does not yet have a fixed date. We are telling you what it will be like so that you can give us your views before it exists.

What it includes

  • A link to your accessibility information or your accessibility statement, always within reach.
  • “Report an accessibility problem”: the report reaches your SiteNorma inbox and your email, with the response deadline in plain view. In the public sector profile, that deadline is 20 working days.
  • Just three preferences, tied to specific WCAG needs: text size (1.4.4), text spacing (1.4.12) and pausing animations (2.2.2).

Preferences are stored in each person’s own browser, with no cookies and no tracking. On the Free plan, the panel shows a link to SiteNorma; on paid plans, it carries no branding.

What it does not include

  • It does not “fix” anything: it does not inject ARIA attributes or rewrite your page.
  • It does not promise legal compliance, and its text states that it is no substitute for an accessible website.
  • It does not add special fonts, reading guides or large cursors: these already exist in each person’s operating system and browser, and they are what assistive technology users criticise most.
  • It does not ask for health data or “disability profiles”.

Why we are not building an overlay

Overlays are tools that promise to make a website accessible by adding a line of code. The reality is different:

  • The European Commission has pointed out that overlays are not a suitable way to meet accessibility requirements.
  • In 2023, the European Disability Forum (EDF) and the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) stated that overlays do not make a website comply with European legislation.
  • In 2025, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) ordered the company accessiBe to pay $1 million over misleading claims about its tool.

Accessibility is achieved in your website’s code, design and content. That is what the rest of SiteNorma is for.

How it will be installed

With a single line in your pages. The panel will be lightweight (under 20 KB compressed), will run isolated from the rest of your page and can also be used to verify that the website is yours.

<script src="[PANEL URL]/w.js" data-site="[PUBLIC KEY]" async></script>

Our own engine will also scan the panel, with the same rules as your website.

Help us design it

If you use assistive technology or manage a website that gets a lot of reports from users, we would like to hear your views.
